U12 ‘B’ Team vs Romsey

January 28th, 2015,

On a cold and frosty morning….

Winchester U12 B Team have now begun to turn their season round with a powerful 6-0 win against Romsey A/B Team in the return fixture at HCS.

With the frozen pitch thawing rapidly Winchester got off to a solid start with a new defensive trio of Tom H, Luca S and Pierre delivering a solid and unruffled display. We deployed a 4 man midfield which dominated the three periods of play with Will B, Jamie D, Daniel P and Felix all playing calmly and sensibly allowing good movement down both flanks and numerous penetrating passes into Romsey’s D.

Charlie B, Theo and James McB all did great work across the front moving quickly and purposefully. We took the lead after 15 mins of the first period and never looked to be in trouble again – Theo’s tap-in was the first of a double brace of goals by the young forward who looked calm in front of the net.

The second period was much more even though again we snatched a goal just before the end of the period to go 2-0 ahead through James McB. In this second period Sasha C our keeper showed great concentration by dealing dealing with two goalmouth scrambles – a very solid performance.

The rolling substitutions were working well with everyone playing with commitment and purpose as the game went on, both Will Y and Will R had to cope with attacking and defensive roles as they took to the pitch.

And the goals kept coming!! By the final period Winchester were pouring forward regularly and it was just a matter of time before the pressure delivered results – we scored 4 well worked goals in this period with Theo completing his hat-trick before Charlie B added another only for Theo to deliver the coup de grace just before the final whistle!

A great game to watch and a great response to last week’s defeat against a strong Salisbury side.
