U8s – Bournemouth Tournament Report

February 27th, 2011,

The Magnificent Six!

We had a great time at the Bournemouth tournament today on what turned out to be a very pleasant morning (the torrential rain started 10mins after we had finished).

Surprisingly for the U8s we had a very low turnout for todays tournament with only 6 players to represent two Winchester teams. However, this did not deter our six dynamos.

Playing 8 games with only one short break the team racked up 26 goals and conceded only 1. The skill level and passing was brilliant and the tactical awareness and positional play was the best I have seen from our U8s.

With nowhere to hide everyone really got stuck in and played with tremendous determination. Giles Hocking was key playmaker in the middle of the field and Rory Penrose clinical in front of goal. After a quiet first couple of games Sam Noble really came to life and was involved in play all over the pitch. Jack Wright and Daniel Pratt established themselves with valuable contributions and Josh Round showed great skills with many maisy runs down the wing.

Coach Richard Round said

Its was great the way that they passed the ball wide and played down the wings. The other teams just couldn’t cope with the way they played.

Well played everyone, see you at training next week. Here are a couple of photos:
