The following players have been selected to play in the U14B Boys Wessex Under 14 Division 2 – South League home fixture against Gosport Borough on Sunday 22^nd April 2012. This is the final fixture of the season.

The venue will be Kings School. Please arrive no later than 10.00am. The game will need to start promptly at 10.30am.

Winchester U14 Boys played the EH Boys Regional Cluster Final on a beautiful Sunday morning in Bournemouth.

The first game was the toughest against Bath Buccaneers, a team who have dominated their region.  Bath had some big strong players but Winchester fought well but lost 2 nil to goals in each half.

Winchester then went on to play Cirencester and beat them 2 nil.

The final game was against Bournemouth and Winchester turned on the style to score some excellent indiviudal and team goals to run out 8 nil winners.    Some of the pass and move hockey was really fantastic.

This result cemented Winchester’s place as runner up behind the undefeated Bath Buccaneers.

Due to the unhelpful scheduling of the final, after the start of the Easter School Holiday, Winchester were without 5 of their regulars but Charlie Hockings and David Hurrell  joined the squad and acquitted themselves well with Hurrell even bagging a debut goal.

Best moment of the day was probably the team’s excellent demonstration of “the bundle” on top of goal keeper Rory McCallum during the team photo.

 Many thanks to Cam Gaffney who gave up his morning to act as Winchester’s Level 1 umpire and was his usual excellent self.

Due to so many girls being on holiday or with other committments we have decided to cancel our trip to the National Tournament final in Exeter on 1st April.

The U14 Girls have been invited to the West Final of the National Championship in Exeter on 1st April as Swindon pulled out and we were best place third.  We play Reading, Havant and Isca(Exeter) and need to be there at 10.45 for our first match at 11.30 our last match being at 14.50 against Havant who we beat 5-0 in the League.

Wessex Under 14

Division 1 (Men)

The U14 Girls have their last Hockey Match of the season on 25th March.  They have a 7-a-side Tournament at Havant from 14.00-17.00.  The Squad so far is Marina Lawrence, Amelia Beck, Ellie Mackinnon, Flora Hawthorn, Sarah VanVuuren, Sophie Ridley, Katie Drummond, Rachel Whitaker, Georgia Howard.

The U14 girls were unfortunate to loose their Hampshire Cup Semi-Final against Isle of Wight on 18th March on penalties, the match being drawn 1-1 at full-time.
