U12 girls gain hard fought victory over Andover

February 22nd, 2016,

We were again very proud of our girls’ performance on Sunday in their 1-0 win against Andover. Our girls dominated possession, created many chances and thoroughly deserved their win.

Our defence of Mimie, Roberta, Olivia T., Poppy and Ruby were strong throughout, supported the midfield well and limited Andover to very few chances. Lili, our goalkeeper, showing good concentration, also made a couple of important saves when Andover threatened ‘against the run of play’.
Our midfield (Charlie, Grace, Lucia and Ruby again) and forwards (Olivia H., Honor, Rosa and Olivia B.) dominated and produced their best performance of the season – in particular, their running into space, passing and pass completion.
As a result our girls created a ‘bucket load’ of chances – we counted over 20 clear cut shots – but it seemed the ball would not go in! This was partly because the Andover goalkeeper (their player of the match) had a brilliant game, partly the result of some bad luck and partly due to a little bit of indecision in front of goal from us. However, our girls did not get disheartened, kept on battling and eventually the goal came with another good piece of teamwork (scorer: Olivia H.).
