MATCH REPORT U12 GIRLS vs SALISBURY, Sunday 30 November WIN 10 – 1

November 30th, 2014,

Izzy (Thomas) scores 9 in 10-1 win!!

A thoroughly enjoyable and strong performance by the girls today. Although playing Salisbury 2nds, as they had won a previous league match we fielded a good core of girls, with some younger ones who had not played on a full size pitch before. From the start it was clear that Winchester were a more organised and stronger side. With Polly, Finty and Ella Chainey dominant in midfield, this gave us plenty of opportunities to free the wingers Flora and Claudia. The first 20 minutes were dominated by the girls, with Izzy Thomas at centre forward bagging the first of her 9 goals with a strong hit from a narrow angle that crept in off the keeper. Some fine passing by Grace T and Rosa, both on as subs, saw another goal, and we finished the first 20 mins 4-0 up, all scored by Izzy. On the occasions that Salisbury attacked Emily in goal did really well to kick clear showing good anticipation and bravery. Grace and Francesca were a very solid full back partnership, with Ella Pop and Lucy also doing well from Half back. The second period saw a further 4 goals, one for Grace T after good work from Martha and Rosa. Flora and Polly continued the good work by providing assists for Izzy who bagged a further 3. The last 20 saw a Salisbury improvement as our girls tired, and they managed to get a goal back. Two final goals for Izzy though gave a final score line of 10-1. Although Izzy’s top class finishing was the highlight, the effort from all today was terrific, with some very good passing and use of the wings. I was particularly pleased with Martha, Claudia, Ella Pop and Lucy who had not played on full size pitch and contributed well. It was a great team effort well done girls!
